It was all smiles this week as Caroline Flint and Cllr Sandra Holland were given a guided tour of the new De Warenne Academy School building.
The £10million rebuild, which overlooks Conisbrough Castle has been very well received by staff, pupils and parents.
Said Caroline Flint: “Gill Pollard has a great team at De Warenne, which has made great progress in recent years. And despite the Government dragging its feet, at last this new school building is complete and we have a school fit for the 21st century. This is fantastic for Gill and her team and great for pupils.”
Said Sandra Holland: “A new school has been on the cards for a long time, so when the Government finally agreed, and work got started, expectations rose – and the new building has really delivered. The environment is a transformation from the noisy and cramped old school. The new building is a sign of an academy that is going from strength to strength.”
Said Principal, Gill Pollard: “We were very pleased to welcome Caroline Flint MP and Cllr Sandra Holland to De Warenne and give them a tour of our wonderful new academy. We are delighted with the design of the building and the state-of-the-art facilities it has brought. The learning spaces are flexible to accommodate groups of different sizes and we have an auditorium which seats two hundred. The library is at the heart of the building with its stimulating displays and the dining area is light and airy.”
