Winning battles for Don Valley

  • Doncaster’s own airport. Lobbying Ministers; speaking at the public inquiry. The airport created 1,000 new jobs and brought new firms to Doncaster.
  • The Great Yorkshire Way. A Rossington link road was a 16 year battle. iPort has created 2,000 jobs.
  • DN7 project. Lobbied for the M18 J6 link road to take HGVs off residential roads.
  • Promoted tourism, and our Wildlife Park from its beginning; Conisbrough Castle and the Pilgrim Fathers anniversary.
  • New investment. Voted funding for new secondary schools across Don Valley; the Tom Hill Youth Club and the Bambury Bridge in Denaby Main.

Caroline Flint has pledged to fight to save the last bank branch in Thorne.
Said Caroline: "We must try to save the TSB branch in Thorne.  This is the last bank in the town and serves a wide area.
"Our small towns are being let down.  In 2017 we lost the HSBC branch; in 2018 we lost the Natwest Branch - now the last bank in Thorne in closing. More banks have closed during the Conservative Government than ever before.

Said Caroline: "Michael Townsend was a very popular figure in Rossington and his work brought him into contact with many residents. This a lovely and fitting tribute to him."

Cllr_Phil_Cole_and_Caroline_Flint_at_the_Field_of_Remembrance_.jpgCaroline Flint and Cllr Phil Cole joined Scout Leaders, Rev Ian Smith, parish councillors and residents to light a new Community Field of Remembrance at St Peter’s Church Warmsworth to all those who lost their lives in Edlington & Warmsworth serving in the two world wars. 

The idea for the Field of Remembrance came from Shaun McDermott, Cub Scout Leader for 1st/36th St Peter’s Warmsworth Scout Group.

Under_starters_Orders_Ros_and_Caroline_prepare_their_bets.jpgCaroline Flint and Mayor Ros Jones joined parish councillors and residents for a Rossington Race Night fundraiser to raise the money to complete the Rossington defibrillator programme.

Said Caroline: “It was a fantastic fundraising evening. The defibrillators cost around £1,200 per unit and this fundraiser raised the last £600 needed for the last defibrillator in the village, which will be located at Brodsworth Way Pavillion.  Congratulations to local first responder, Paul Reed, and to Ken Guest and his fellow parish councillors who have ensured that Rossington is the first village in the borough to be completely covered by defibrillators.

WASPI_pledge_1019_cropped.jpgCaroline Flint met with local Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) in Parliament this week and pledged her commitment to fight for a fair transitional State Pension arrangement for all WASPI women.

Caroline took part in the WASPI lobby of Parliament, that saw over 20 WASPI Women and 120 Parliamentarians gather in Parliament to call on the Government to commit their support in helping find a solution for WASPI women.
