Earth Centre new role welcomed

Don Valley’s MP and Conisbrough’s Labour councillors have welcomed the prospect of new jobs at Earth Centre as a new chapter, following its sale to Kingswood.

Said MP Caroline Flint:

“I welcome that the new owners, Kingswood are hoping to establish 200 new jobs on the site.

“I have already spoken with John Bentley, Kingswood’s business development manager.  They are really committed to investing in the site to provide first rate out of class activities for children and young people alongside their existing UK sites; and using the environmental backdrop of Earth Centre site as a springboard for children’s learning and enjoyment.

“The investment in new accommodation is to be welcomed, but I am particularly pleased that the existing buildings are to be retained.

In a joint statement, local councillors Craig Sahman, Chris Mills and Sandra Holland said:

“This bid by Kingswood will offer real investment in the former Earth Centre site.  It will provide jobs and apprenticeships for local people and excellent facilities for local schools. We are delighted with this bid and look forward to working with them to the benefit of the local community and Doncaster.”
