Don Valley MP Caroline Flint has backed a pledge to end fuel poverty in Westminster launching the #NoColdHomes campaign.
CarolineRecent Government cuts to energy efficiency measures will mean that the number of houses being made more efficient will fall by almost 80%.
Said Caroline: “In the twenty-first century no one should ever have to choose between heating and eating. Better insulation is a win-win: it saves consumers money, and it saves energy too.”
Action to stop warmth leaking out of homes through doors, walls and windows can cut a household’s energy bill by hundreds of pounds a year. A major home insulation programme would also generate thousands of new jobs, improve public health and bring down pollution levels.
The MP recently demanded more help for residents of park homes who also experience very high energy bills in winter, but miss out on most Government schemes.
