Local church leaders met with Caroline Flint this week to discuss how they could work together to help communities tackle local problems.
Members of the One Heart, One Voice Churches Network, which brings together church leaders from different faiths, have now met and discussed working more closely, with each of the Doncaster MPs.
Said Rev Ian Rutherford: “The One Heart One Voice Churches Network is passionate about playing our part to instil hope within our communities in very tough times. We know that as a local MP Caroline sees the problems of worklessness, poverty and addiction at first hand.
“We had a great hour discussing how we could work closely with Caroline, and the other Doncaster MPs, to help where help is needed. Caroline, like her colleagues, was very receptive and I know that by facing common problems together we gain strength and support from each other.”
Said Caroline Flint: “The meeting with the One Heart One Voice Churches Network was very practical. We talked about the need for more working in partnership by organisations, trying to tackle the same challenges and to support people. I recognise the valuable role faith groups and others can play, given the opportunity. The Network’s church-leaders have a practical approach to our communities who face serious problems of poverty, drugs, and families in crisis. I look forward to sharing my efforts with them to address the same problems.”
