MP urges Heroes Return

Former veterans of the great wars have one final chance to make a commemorative trip with the help of the Big Lottery.

Applications for funds from the Heroes Return 2 must be received by 31 January.

Said Caroline Flint:  “Over 50,000 veterans of World War II have made commemorative trips to places throughout the world where they served.  Sometimes the trips are to places they served, sometimes to visit the graves of fallen comrades or it is to meet old friends.  I hope veterans and their families will take this last opportunity to use the Big Lottery for e trip to remember.”

Veterans who fought with or alongside British forces in World War 2 and who are resident in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. War widows and widowers of veterans are also eligible for funding, and carers and spouses can receive funding to travel with veterans.
If you have any questions about the scheme and whether you are eligible, ring the application helpline on 0845 0000 121 or email the Big Lottery at
