Labour MP Caroline Flint has welcomed the progress towards new sports facilities for Auckley, following the latest funding received from the Government’s Community Builders Scheme.
Caroline was shown the latest plans for the £2.5million community centre, sports and business units by Amanda Richardson.
The Government’s Community Builders fund has approved £68,000 to complete all the preparations and tender process.
“I am delighted that the architect can now fine tune the plans for this great community facility and the whole scheme can go to Doncaster Council for planning approval,” said the local resident Amanda Richardson.
“The Hayfield Centre CIC Board has worked tirelessly to get this project to final stage and I look forward to consulting residents on the final look of the scheme.”
Peel Airports, Yorkshire Forward European funding; Community Builders and Hill House School are among the contributors to the project.
Said Caroline: “I am very excited that the plans are taking shape and funding is almost confirmed for this exciting community sports facility with managed workspaces.
“I am also very proud that the Government’s Community Builders programme is helping the scheme. This important fund is dedicated to helping grassroots community enterprises to provide for a range of local needs, managed and controlled by local people. This scheme absolutely fits the bill.
“It was always part of the airport’s plans that the community would benefit from some sports facilities; and these new plans offer will offer a range of indoor and outdoor sports, and some offices dedicated for small and start-up businesses. The Hayfield Centre CIC Board is doing a great job. I hope we will see building under way in the summer.”
