MP welcomes new Post Office - open longer hours

The opening of the new Post Office counter at the No1 Super Convenience Store in Warmsworth was welcomed this week by its first customer of the day - Caroline Flint MP.

Customer No1Caroline met store owners Jasmine Stevan and Kuganenthira Raja Mahadeva, who will run the new post office, on their first day of business.

Said Caroline:  “After the worries following the closure of the post office on Sheffield Road, following the retirement of the sub-postmaster, this new post office is great news.  For the first time, the post office will be open from 6am to 9pm ; and 6-8 on Sundays.

“Jasmine and Kugan are really committed to making this a success and I am really pleased for them and for Warmsworth.”

Said Cllr Phil Cole: “Warmsworth has had its ups and downs following the threat of closure of the local library, now run by volunteers, so to see the new post office opening evening longer hours than before is a real gain for Warmsworth.  And with Jasmine’s degree in accountancy, we couldn’t have a more qualified sub-postmaster.”

Jasmine and Kugan's first day of business was Thursday 19 July.
