Caroline Flint joined MPs and health professionals this week to remind everyone of the importance of children keeping their teeth healthy this Christmas and all year round.
Said Caroline: “This Christmas, children will enjoy a lot of sweets, chocolate, sugary food and fizzy drinks. But we don’t want them to forget to keep their teeth clean and look after their smile.”
The MP has been advised that one in four Doncaster’s five year olds already have tooth decay. Yet in the healthiest parts of the UK it is one child in every twenty.
Said Caroline: “It is scary that over 1,000 Doncaster children are admitted to hospital every year to have decayed teeth removed under general anaesthetic. That is a lot of children having a painful time. The answer is to look after your teeth – and you are never too young to learn how to brush your teeth well and make sure you are not one of the unlucky children with poor teeth.
“So look after your teeth and keep a smile on your face in 2019!”
