Doncaster MPs Caroline Flint and Rosie Winterton are meeting Transport Minister Norman Baker today to seek confirmation that the Government is to fund Phase II of the White Rose Way project.
Following the Autumn Statement, the Government made a one line reference to the project on the Treasury website, which suggested that White Rose Way is part of the National Infrastructure Plan announced by the Chancellor.
Said Rose Winterton & Caroline Flint: “With Doncaster’s economy in real trouble and unemployment rising, the news that the Government are promising to finish the dualling of White Rose Way is welcome news amid the gloom.
“We have always said that White Rose Way, the Rossington Inland Port and the airport link road are crucial to bringing new business to Doncaster. With so many families and businesses facing a real tough Christmas, this provides some hope for new jobs down the road.
“Government funding for business growth has been beset with problems in the past 18 months, so at our meeting with the Transport Minister today, we will be seeking confirmation that the money will be coming forward quickly and there will be no further hurdles or delay.”
The MPs hope to secure the confirmation from the Government at their meeting today.
