Local MPs Caroline Flint & Rosie Winterton joined local businesses to discuss how to export to other countries.
Caroline and Rosie took part in a Q&A with local businesses, sharing ideas about how to make the move to selling in other countries.
At the event, sponsored by UK Trade & Investment and Doncaster Chamber of Commerce, Caroline said: “Our advice is don’t sit back and be comfortable just because you have established customers here in the UK – to grow you have to sell abroad. We have met firms like Kozikidz, which started in one office in Tickhill but sells to 28 countries; and New Era Aquaculture from Thorne, which now exports to 32 countries and is growing by the day. I want businesses to be inspired by their example and know that there is help available to make the leap across the water.”
Rosie said: “This event was about how we grow businesses in Doncaster – and one way is to reach overseas to find new customers and new partners so that “Made in Doncaster” is sold all over the world. Our message is that UKTI, and the UK’s Embassies worldwide are there to help British businesses get to know these markets and find customers.”
