New evidence shows no excuses for energy price cap delay - Flint

Commenting on the latest Ofgem figures, Caroline Flint said:

“The fact that 57% of customers are still on expensive standard variable tariffs is appalling, but that the major energy companies such as SSE and British Gas offer such poor value to the many, yet provide deals that are £300 cheaper for the few who shop online is breath taking.

“There is no excuse for the Government to wait until the winter of 2018 to introduce the energy price cap.”

Ofgem’s league table shows SSE charging SVT customers £315 more than their cheapest deal. British Gas charge £284 more than their cheapest deal.
