Labour Group leader, Cllr Sandra Holland and local MPs have responded postively to the announcement that Government-appointed commissioners will help Doncaster Council to improve its governance and standards of service.
Labour Group Leader, Sandra Holland said: "The form of intervention proposed will enable us to move forward and do what we in the Labour Group and Labour Party regard as our priority and that is to deliver for the people of Doncaster. Good quality council services are what is important and we will play a full role in achieving this. We will co-operate fully and work in partnership to make sure everyone in Doncaster receives the service they deserve. We need a fresh start and we believe that this is the first step on that road."
Caroline Flint said: “The decision to bring in commissioners to help Doncaster Council get back on its feet is welcome. This process started under the previous Communities Secretary and this step would have been taken whichever party had been in power after 6 May.
“I hope Doncaster’s Mayor, councillors and officers will co-operate fully with the team of experts that are being bought in, in the best interests of the people of Doncaster who rely on the important services the Council provides.”
