Caroline Flint had a surprise encounter with some friendly alpacas at the Braithwell Church and Country Fair this week.
The Don Valley MP met Janet and Gary Brown, from Field View Farm, Clifton village, who rear a herd of alpacas, and sell socks made from the wool.
Parish councillors and local businesses joined Caroline Flint and ward councillors to say “Thank you” for a reduced speed limit on Ashton Lane which ends in the heart of Braithwell village.
Local businessman Arnold Pawson joined Caroline to check out the signs and road markings to slow down traffic coming into the village.
A campaign by residents in Braithwell to tackle speeding traffic through their village, has led to a victory, following the support of MP Caroline Flint. The Council has agreed to cut the speed limit on Ashton Lane, from 60mph to 40mph, to slow traffic coming into Braithwell.
Said Caroline: "The Council's decision to cut the speed limit on Ashton Lane is very welcome. I am grateful to Braithwell resident Arnold Pawson who raised his concerns about traffic speed on Ashton Lane at one of my surgeries. His concerns were widely shared, resulting in a residents’ petition. Since then, I have been pressing Doncaster MBC to reduce the speed limit, supported by the Parish Council, councillors and the police inspector. This is a welcome step to make Braithwell's road safer."
